Courtney & Andy | Dallas engagement session at White Rock Lake

11/29/2016

From the moment I met Courtney and Andy, I knew we'd be a perfect match. We have so much in common including a strong love for soccer, craft beer and pizza, and the Greenville St. Patrick's Day Parade. I can't believe we haven't crossed paths before our first meeting in Starbucks!

These two were so easy to photograph. Their chemistry is palpable and their connection is strong. I'm so excited about their beautiful spring wedding in Dallas next April!

Amanda & Drew | Cape Cod engagement session

This couple is oh-so-special to me. I've known Amanda since my freshman year of college at Bryant University in Rhode Island. It's a small school and we became fast friends. I've always loved her spunky, outgoing, FUN personality. We've been through a lot over the past 10+ years and I am so thankful for her friendship.

Meeting Drew, her wonderful fiance, put all the pieces into place. He is the biggest sweetheart and loves Amanda so much. I am beyond honored to be capturing their engagement and beautiful 2017 wedding in New Hampshire.

Congrats, you two!

Brooke & Ben were so laid-back and up for an adventure during their engagement session. They trudged down dirt paths with me to find the best light and even kept their cool as howling coyotes lingered near us (yikes!)

Their love is palpable and I can't wait to shoot their beautiful October wedding!

Five best engagement shoot locations in Dallas

4/15/2016

I'll admit it: I love love love LOVE engagement sessions. I love getting to connect with my couples in a casual, laid-back and STRESS-FREE environment. I love learning what the story of each relationship, how you interact and how to best capture your story. Engagement sessions are my fave.

Since engagement session season is upon us, I thought I'd share some of my favorite locations for Dallas engagement photo sessions. This list is by no means exhaustive -- let's be honest, Dallas is huge and I haven't even started to conquer locations. However, I have some favorite go-to's that almost always produce beautiful results. Do you have any favorite locations I should check out??
1. Prather Park

Prather Park is tucked away in a quiet Highland Park neighborhood, just below street level. You'll have to take stairs to get there but there are some charming stone bridges and plenty of nooks and crannies to snuggle into.
2. Davis Park

Just across the street from Prather Park is Davis Park. A lot of people know it as the area that surrounds the Highland Park pool. There is a gorgeous old European-style bridge that is the perfect frame for any madly-in-love couple.
3. White Rock Lake

Gosh, there are so many spots at White Rock Lake that I'm having a hard time narrowing them all down. I think I may need to do a blog post dedicated just to photo locations at White Rock! Here are a few of my usuals, though:

-Near the Bath House Cultural Center (Jeremias)
-The boathouse/docks (M&B)
-Near docks (Hanson)
4. Deep Ellum

When we talk about Deep Ellum, I think there's a perception that it's mostly grunge and rockerish. However, if you keep your photo shoot eyes open, you'll find plenty of pretty nooks, doorframes and steps to stop along and shoot at. Proof is the photos, my friends.
5. Lakeside Park

OK, I know this is not a photo of an engagement shoot but I just loved the magical light of this session I did for Frances back in the fall at Lakeside Park. Just a few blocks down from Davis and Prather Parks, there are lily pads, hidden alcoves and entrances to the stream leading into the lake. I could spend hours exploring all the ins and outs of Lakeside Park.

MEGAN & BRANDON | Engagement | DALLAS

These two have a fairytale story -- seriously. They met at an airport, talked for hours and started the long distance thing. They couldn't bear to be apart from each other so Megan moved halfway across the country to join Brandon in Texas three months later. And now, it's forever.

I can't wait to shoot their beautiful October wedding!

Chris + Erica | Engagement | Lakeside Park + Trinity Overlook + Dallas Skyline

Chris and Erica's beginning sounds like a scene from a movie. Erica was at a Starbucks with a friend; Chris was there to study. He overheard her talking about her apartment complex at Dallas Theological Seminary, where they're both students. One look at her and he knew he had to talk to this beautiful girl who lived in the same building as him.

They chatted, friended each other on Facebook, had a coffee date and as they say, the rest is history.

Chris and Erica are the type of people who would do anything for you. They love their family and friends fiercely. They love God even more. We traipsed around Davis Park/Lakeside Park and the Trinity Overlook for the Dallas skyline  to snap some photos of meaningful places in their relationship. And of course we made a stop by the Starbucks that led them together.

Congrats on your engagement, you two. I can't wait to shoot your lovely December wedding!

Jessi + Dave | Engagement | DALLAS

5/5/2014

The crazy Dallas weather forced us to schedule (and reschedule ... and almost reschedule again) this shoot. The wind was howling that Saturday afternoon but it was no matter for Jessi and Dave. They were just happy to play around in front of the camera for me.

These two are the types that make it look easy. Tell Jessi to snuggle in to Dave and she melted into his chest like I wasn't even there. They're just as adorable in person as they are in the photos. I loved every second of their laughter and smiles as we traipsed around neighborhoods near Fair Park and then headed out to White Rock Lake (a personal favorite).

Congrats, soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Wellbrock!
