Marriage Minute: Setting Goals

Note: Welcome to Marriage Minute, a new(ish) feature of the Chelsea Q. White Photography blog. Once a month, I’ll be sharing a marriage tip, article or story to help encourage you in building your marriage. You can see past posts here. Please let me know your ideas and feedback in the comments!

Do you set goals as a married couple?

For a long time, it never occurred to me that Travis and I would set goals together outside of finances. We wanted to get debt-free as soon as possible, buy a house and travel. Since our anniversary falls at the end of the year, we try to reflect back on what went well, what needs work and what the upcoming year will look like.

Since then, I’ve heard of several couples who set all their yearly goals together (of course, they have their own personal goals as well). While I’m not a resolutions person, I love goal-setting at the beginning of the year and you all know how much I love my Powersheets to help me achieve said goals.

One of my big goals for this year is to strengthen my marriage. And it dawned on me the other day that I hadn’t shared that with Travis (um, duh!) With the addition of another baby and Logan well into toddlerhood, I can see this year being very taxing and trying. Can we strengthen our marriage in the midst of it?

Evidently we can and we should.
