Marriage Minute: Shared Activites

Note: Welcome to Marriage Minute, a new feature of the Chelsea Q. White Photography blog. Once a month, I’ll be sharing a marriage tip, article or story to help encourage you in building your marriage. Please let me know your ideas and feedback in the comments!

A few months ago, I read the book “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin. It’s been wildly popular during the past 10 years so I finally decided to see what all the fuss was about.

In a nutshell, I loved the book. It really helped reframe a lot of my thoughts and feelings on life in general, and how I can apply some of her tactics so I can create a little more happiness in my life.

One particular seemingly small concept has stuck with me ever since I read it. Rubin was talking to her friends about marriage and a friend of hers shared some wisdom her grandmother told her:

You should always have shared activities with your spouse. Better if you have one you can do outdoors and one you can do indoors.

Of course it’s important to have shared activities but I loved the idea of finding in an inside one and an outside one. It led to the wheels turning in our heads and great conversations about what we like to do together as a couple.

So I’d love to know! What are some shared activities you like to do with your spouse? Let me know in the comments!
