We live in a world of image overload and I know I’m not the only one who feels the weight of that. You’re sitting at your desk all day, browsing Pinterest and Instagram for wedding inspiration and simultaneously becoming beaten down by all the possibilities.
On the one hand, you want a beautiful wedding. Who doesn’t?! You’ve dreamed of this day for as long as you can remember and even moreso once you met that darling fiance of yours and he popped the question. Style Me Pretty and The Knot pop up as your last search results every time you log onto Chrome. You can’t help but swoon over those darling details and gorgeous natural light portraits.
But at the same time, you know it’s just one day and what you’re left with after the cake is cut and the flowers have died is the memory of the day and the start of your marriage. Still, even a laid-back bride like you has a lot to do and a mean checklist to cross off. Wedding day details? Who’s got time for that?
I’d argue that, aside from portraits, details are one of the most important aspects of your wedding day. They speak volumes about who you are and where you are in life when your wedding happens. They’ll be the images you choose to go in your album next to the grinning bridal party and madly in-love images of you and your new husband.
And let’s be real: We’ve all spent hours online looking for the perfect shoes to wear with our dress. How fun would it be to go back and see the shoes your grandmother or great grandmother wore to her wedding? Or how about her jewelry, her perfume, or her garter?
Sure, details are what you see all over wedding websites but for good reason. They tell the larger story of your day and they’re something to be documented. I love details because I feel like I learn so much about my brides when they hand it over to me to photograph in the getting ready suite.
Not everyone cares about details and that’s OK. But my guess is, you care and you want to streamline the gathering of pieces and make it as easy as possible. I hear ya, sister! That’s why I created this free guide and checklist so when it comes time to gather it all together, you know exactly what to grab to make your wedding day smoother for you and your photographer.
