Fall 2017 reading list

I realize it’s now the beginning of November and “fall” has been in full swing for a month and a half. But, as we near the end of the year, I wanted to share the books rounding out my crazy 2017 reading 50 books goal. First, a recap of my summer list, what I read and what I didn’t, and what I’m looking forward to diving into over the next two months (and side note, how is it almost the end of the year already?!)

Books I read this summer/early fall plus a 5-star rating:

Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance (5/5)

Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist (5/5)

At Home in the World by Tsh Oxenreider (5/5)

Make It Happen by Lara Casey (3/5)

Thou Shall Prosper by Rabbi Daniel Lapin*

The Nix by Nathan Hill (3/5)

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver (4/5 – this would have been 5/5 but the beginning was a liiiitle too slow for me)

When Breathe Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi (5/5)

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (4/5)

Design Your Day by Claire Diaz-Ortiz (5/5)

Soul Detox by Craig Groeshel (4/5)

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott (5/5)

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain (5/5)

Lilac Girls by Martha Hall Kelly (5/5)

Commonwealth by Ann Patchett (4/5)

Books still on my list:

Thou Shall Prosper*

Chasing Slow by Erin Loechner*

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown*

The Girl with Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee*

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng

The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine

The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

The Ninth Hour by Alice McDermott

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle (I want to re-read this before the movie comes out!)

*denotes book-in-progress; I’ve had a bad habit this year of starting books and not finishing them.

So far, I’ve completed 37 books meaning I have seven in progress (for shame!!!) But, the good news is, after that, I only have five more books to read to hit my goal! I’d love to know what’s your reading list lately. Drop a line in the comments!
